East Jemez Interagency Fire Command Center
The F&D team was retained by the Dept. of the Interior to act as project managers for the design and construction of a new interagency fire command center for the Los Alamos region of New Mexico. The facility consists of a communications room, offices, large staff meeting areas, and a Helitack support area. Auxiliary buildings include a maintenance building, fire apparatus bays, covered parking for vehicles and 3 helipads. The parking structure also supports a solar panel system.
Sustainable design elements include solar hot water, radiant heat, heat recovery systems, and a high-performance envelope. The facility was designed to exceed ASHRAE standards and is now completely off-the-grid.”
