Case Study

CU Denver DRAVO Building

The F&D engineers performed an in-depth analysis of the mechanical systems and the acoustical performance for an entire floor of the Dravo Building that is used as an open design studio for architecture students and professors. The entire floor was originally designed with soaring open ceilings and exposed mechanical ducts which was causing an overriding sound which created an uncomfortable work environment. We performed an analysis of the mechanical systems, then designed a remodel of the duct system and acoustic ceiling and walls to mitigate the sounds in the open floor areas. Out team was able to drastically reduce sound levels in this highly sensitive area as well as improve aesthetics within the entire area.
